Beautiful new family kitchen

By

This new kitchen was part of a whole house remodel. Lots of planning resulted in a beautiful new family kitchen.

This customer lives in Arizona and had purchased a home on the North Shore of MA near the beach. All renovations had to be completed by the end of September. They gutted the whole house themselves and returned to Arizona in the late spring. We were scheduled to start the renovations in July when they returned. The kitchen design needed to be finalized so the work in the home could start. After a few weeks of long distance faxes, emails, and phone calls the kitchen design layout was final. Our goal was to expand the opening to the dining room and add more storage space. The big decision was where to put the fridge. After a few design options, we decided that removing a window at the far end of the kitchen near the dining room was the best option. A layout was created for the electrical and plumbing work to start. Once July came upon us, the house was a very busy place for the summer months. Old kitchen photos:

The kitchen was completely gutted down to the studs. Old knob and tube wiring was removed as well as the old plumbing. All new electrical, plumbing, and insulation was installed.

All new blue board and plaster! Now its looking like a new space. Time to pick cabinet style, granite tops, appliances, etc. Shop, shop, shop! I sent the customer to my favorite appliance man at Tricity Sales in Ipswich, MA., he works with customers that are renovating their kitchen. Following the kitchen layout drawing he will help customers find the right appliances to match and fit the new kitchen. Then off to North Shore Marble and Granite to pick counter tops, Merillat cabinets, vanity cabinets and tops, and back splash tiles. We chose Merillat Classic maple cabinetry with “English Saddle” glazing. Island and vanity cabinets are maple with “Kona” dark stain to match the glazing in the kitchen cabinetry. Cabinet hardware was ordered by the customer online and match perfectly with the kitchen theme. Now to get it all installed…

Finally the finished kitchen remodel. Beautiful maple cabinets with accent glazing. Finish trim and crown brought to the ceiling. Light rail across the bottom of the wall cabinets. Dark stain island cabinets to accent the island. Granite counter tops that add magnificent color to the room. Brand new modern appliances. The original hardwood floor was refinished to keep with the charm of the home found throughout. A wonderful team effort between contractors and homeowner made for a very comfortable home rich with character, quality, and lots of good times!
